Issue published: Vol 1, No 1 (inaugural issue)

The much awaited inaugural issue of Impact: Journal of Applied Research in Workplace E-learning has now been published. The issue's Table of Contents can be viewed here.

All 14 articles in the inaugural issue, the theme of which is "Current issues and future directions in workplace e-learning: Mapping the research landscape", are freely available any member of the general public who registers for a free account on the journal's Web site.

The publication frequency of Impact will increase to bi-annual in 2010 (Vol 2), followed by quarterly publication in 2011 (Vol 3) and subsequent years. From Vol 2, the journal will adopt a delayed open access model, whereby issues published within the last six months at any given time will be restricted to viewing by paid subscribers, including financial members of ElNet, while all other content is accessible free-of-charge.

If you enjoy the content in the inaugural issue and/or find it useful, please consider subscribing or encouraging your organisation/institution's library to sign up for an institutional subscription, which will enable all staff and/or students of the organisation/institution to access articles as soon as they are published. Alternatively, you may like to join ElNet as an individual or business member, which will provide you with a host of other benefits in addition to Impact subscription. As ElNet (Impact's publisher) is a not-for-profit society and the Editorial Team of the journal operates on a completely voluntary, unremunerated basis, your support is needed to ensure ongoing sustainability and growth of both the society and the journal.

Manuscript submissions are now being accepted for the first regular issue of the journal (Vol 2, No 1 – to be published in July 2010). The Editorial Policies section of this site houses information on the journal's focus and scope, including topics of interest and types of articles accepted, and should be read by all prospective authors. For specific style guidelines and advice on writing articles for submission to Impact, please consult the Submissions section of the site. Those who intend to submit case studies (which may be peer or editor-reviewed at the discretion of the author) should additionally download and study the specific Advice to authors of case study articles (PDF document).

The second issue of Impact in 2010 (Vol 2, No 2), which will be published in December, is intended to be a special, themed issue on the topic of e-learning evaluation and transfer. More details, including a formal Call for Papers, will be made available in early 2010. Meanwhile, expressions of interest can be sent to impactjournal@elnet.com.au.

At this point, the Editor-in-Chief and editorial staff of Impact would like to take this opportunity to wish all readers a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.
